- In a A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens initial choice for Scrooges statement " Bah Humbug!" was "Bah Christmas!".
- "Jingle Bells" was composed in 1857 by Jame4s Pierpont, and was origanally called "One Horse Open Sleigh".
- "White Christmas" by Bing Crosby, is the greatest-selling Christmas song of all time, selling more than thirty million copies.
- The Sesame Street characters Bert and Ernie, were named for Bert the cop and Ernie the cab driver in It's a Wonderful Life.
- The Christmas carol, 'The twelve Day of Christmas" was origninally writtern to help Catholic children in England to remember different articles of faith at a time they were being persecuted by Protestant monarchs. (More on this another time).
- In the Christmas carol "the Twelve Days of Christmas", the total number of gifts was 364. As of the year 2000, these gifts would cost some $60,000.
